Roof Anchors

Essex is a leader in roof anchor layout and design. We have developed two revolutionary concepts in this arena, including our new color-coding system.

Building owners are responsible for providing a safe work environment, including designated tie-off points for workers who need to descend the face of the building.

The newest guidelines, IWCA/ANSI 14.1-1 specify how roof anchors are to be placed, tested, and documented. While not law, compliance with the guidelines is a defensible approach to providing a safe workplace. To find out more about the guidelines, click here.

Essex takes the approach of providing a system that is compliant with guidelines, but reasonable for your budget. Our layouts can often reduce the number of required roof anchors (and roof penetration points!) by 30%. And that's just the beginning...

Our documentation is second to none. We offer complete logbooks, bilingual if desired, including descent diagrams, incident logs, and descriptions of how the system is to be used. To view our most recent article, published in the Georgia Contractor, click here (917KB .pdf).

We also offer our color-coding system. For a reasonable cost, this provides additional security and ease of use - both for the workers and for the property manager. One can see at a glance whether the contractors are using the system properly or not. For more information on our color-coding system, click here (143KB .pdf). Peace of mind at a reasonable cost.
