Atlanta, Georgia, a top-tier sustainable city, has announced the creation of Express Permit Applications for rooftop solar projects.
“The rise of solar in Atlanta leads to a brighter and cleaner today, tomorrow and beyond.” – Director Stephanie Stuckey Benfield of Mayor Reed’s Office of Sustainability
As the price of solar panels has plummeted in recent years, some of the “soft” costs of implementing projects have declined slowly. It appears that the City of Atlanta is making an effort to address the time and expense involved in permitting rooftop solar in the city.
According to Benfield, the new solar permitting process is an important part of Mayor Reed’s goal to make Atlanta the most sustainable city in the U.S.
